Finding anxiety treatment in Sydney
If anxiety is limiting your life, an assessment can help clarify what is happening and which support fits. The guides below explain the ideas behind our CBT group and help you prepare questions about treatment. They do not determine a diagnosis or recommend the same format for everyone.
Psychological treatment options can differ according to the problem and the level of support needed. CBT is among the approaches used for anxiety; assessment is important when choosing a treatment plan. NICE: Treatment options for generalised anxiety

How the learning connects to the eight weeks
1. Understanding anxiety: the cycle, physical arousal and your own pattern.
2. Thoughts and anxiety: recognising anxious predictions.
3. Working with anxious thinking: cognitive restructuring and probability and cost thinking.
4. Avoidance and safety behaviours: understanding what maintains anxiety.
5. Facing fears: graded exposure and behavioural experiments.
6. Worry and uncertainty: worry postponement and problem solving.
7. Managing the body: breathing, grounding, mindfulness, sleep and lifestyle factors.
8. Staying well: relapse prevention and an individual anxiety management plan.
The final week brings the skills together into a plan for continuing after the course. The topic guides explain the curriculum; they are not a substitute for the sessions or individual treatment.
